About Honiara

Home to a rich war history, Honiara is the culturally engaging capital city of the Solomon Islands where a bustling wharf meets local markets and Melanesian traditions. Learn more about the history of the Solomon Islands at the National Museum, which houses old photographs and historic displays on traditional dance, weaponry, archaeological finds and currency. If the nation’s war history fascinates you, visit the US War Memorial, only five minutes’ drive from the town centre. The memorial showcases each battle fought during the Guadalcanal campaign.

Those who enjoy nature should embark on the two-hour hike to Matanikau Falls, which takes you through a grassy land and deep into a lush forest.
