Welcome to Stonewell Cottages & Vineyards 4-star Guest House near Tanunda, a boutique bed and breakfast vineyard retreat offering peace, privacy and luxury in the heart of the stunning Barossa Valley. This tranquil South Australia accommodation, far away from stress and hectic schedules, is the ideal place to escape and rejuvenate. Beautifully situated in a unique, secluded vineyard and waterfront setting in one of Australia's most prestigious wine growing region, the Barossa Valley, Stonewell Cottages & Vineyards is also just a few minutes drive from the center of Tanunda and only 60 minutes drive from central Adelaide. Take a scenic walk around the beautiful lake and enjoy a romantic picnic in the summerhouse. A row to the island gazebo takes you to one of the many spots to sit and relax and study the birds that frequent the lake. Throw in a fishing line and you may catch a red-fin perch or a trout. Summertime awakens the sleepy yabbies. Just want to relax? Spoil yourself with an in-room massage or body treatment in the privacy of your own cottage. FAQs

The following questions have been answered for you by Stonewell Cottages...

What are your breakfast options?
Stonewell Cottages is a self-contained property, not a traditional hosted bed and breakfast. We do not have an on site restaurant/dining room. Provisions for continental and full breakfast(s) are provided in the cottage. There are full kitchen facilities in the cottages, for self preparation of breakfasts. A selection of teas and ground coffee is also provided. Premium dining available at Appellation restaurant (one and a half kilometres) with further dining options available in Tanunda (three kilometres).
What transport is available to get around?
Bus service – Adelaide to Barossa
If you don’t have a car, the only way to get from Adelaide to the Barossa is by Barossa Valley Coaches. They operate daily services between Adelaide and the Barossa Valley and make a stop in Tanunda. Tickets are purchased from the driver when boarding.

There is no public transport within the Barossa itself, so you will then need to take a taxi from Tanunda out to the cottages – the cottages are located three kilometres out of Tanunda.

Hire car
The easiest transport option for getting to and from the Barossa is to hire a car from Adelaide airport or Adelaide city. A hire car is also easiest for touring the Barossa area. As there is also no public transport within the Barossa itself, if you do not have a car, you will need to rely on taxi to get around the Barossa or a tour company.

Tours
You could also book one of the many tour companies that do day tours around the Barossa. In relation to a Barossa wine tour, there are a couple of different options we recommend. Either you can choose a tour operator that does a private exclusive tour just for you, or group tours, where you join a small group of other people. Private tours are of course more expensive, but can be tailored specifically for you. Tour companies will pick you up from Stonewell Cottages at a pre-arranged time.

Private Tour
Auburn Tours has a full day tour, travelling in a rare, fully restored 1935 Auburn convertible or alternatively a luxury 4WD with Trevor Wehr as your personal driver and guide. Daimler Tours has a full day tour, travelling in a rare, fully restored 1962 Daimler with John Baldwin as your personal driver and guide.

Group or Private Tour
Barossa Experience Tours - shared or private tours, full and half day tours with Werner Gattermayr.
Barossa Epicurean Tours - full or half day tours. Sole or shared use of vehicle options – Statesman or Tarago.

Mini Bus Tours
Tour Barossa - full and half day tours – fun, flexible, affordable Barossa Highlights Tour with a local guide.

Taxis
Barossa and Light Cab Service

There is also the Gawler Hire Car.

An alternative to taking a taxi is the Barossa DIAL-A-RIDE Bus Service - a door to door passenger transport service that operates between Tanunda, Nuriootpa and Angaston on Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (not available on Public Holidays). Fares are $5.00 a ride and a minimum two hour booking notice is required.

Restaurant transfer service can be provided by Barossa Epicurean Tours at $15.00 each way to Tanunda.
