Yorkeys Knob is a beautiful, long sweep of tropical beach about 10 minutes from Cairns City. It's a seaside community with quiet residential streets, a local shopping centre, the superb 18 hole Half Moon Bay Golf Course and a delightful marina where you can while away an afternoon after a leisurely lunch. Walk the beach, swim in the Coral Sea, or watch the dynamic kite boarders from your balcony at The York. Your hosts, Sandy and Adrian, are locals with an in-depth knowledge of the Cairns region and its best attractions. What are your breakfast options?: We offer fully-appointed, self-contained units with complete kitchens. Most people provide their own and self cater, however there are breakfast cafes in close proximity and the Boat Club on the marina also does breakfast.
What transport is available to get around?: We have plenty of transport available. We offer a personal shuttle service from the airport, both interstate and international (only 10 minutes by car) for $30 AUD for a couple. To town there are buses right past the front door regularly. There is also a local hire car company who will bring a hire car to you at your unit at very reasonable rates. Most tour operators include transfers in their tariffs for trips and tours as well; those that don't are well serviced and very fair priced.
What can I do nearby?: Our location is a getaway, right on the oceanfront. We are centrally located to step off for the Great Barrier Reef, World Heritage Rainforest, a 15-minute drive south to Cairns provides all the nightlife you might need including the casino.
Do you have internet?: Yes, we have wireless broadband and the costs vary depending on how much time you buy (about $5 per hour would be a close approximate). We provide a free "netbook" for those who don't bring one also.
Do you provide parking?: We have ample undercover parking for about 20 cars on-site so self drive is also a very good option.
