It’s all about the beaches in Antigua. Waters are warm and calm at Valley Church Beach on the west coast, while Galley Bay Beach in the north-west provides crashing ocean waves for surfers and body boarders. Look for sea turtles at Galley Bay before heading to Moon Bay for windsurfing and snorkelling.

Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay offer duty-free shopping, while you’ll find local treasures in St. John’s at the Saturday Morning Market, such as fragrant island flowers, handcrafted art, musical instruments, spices and souvenirs. Make a beach picnic with tropical produce, such as papaya, coconut and Antiguan black pineapples.

Discover the naval history of Antigua at Nelson's Dockyard National Park, which once served as a base for the British during the Napoleonic Wars. The Dockyard Museum showcases Nelson’s telescope, while Dow’s Hill Interpretive Center displays island culture and heritage. Tour the 1674 sugar cane plantation at Betty’s Hope to see restored machinery and a museum on the lives of plantation workers.

Dining and nightlife can be found at the Falmouth and English harbours. You’ll find authentic island-style seafood at Papa Zouk and Hemingway’s Caribbean Café on Lower St. Mary’s Street. Splurge on an elegant night out at The Cove Restaurant in Soldier’s Bay or enjoy the buffet and rum punch at Beachlimerz.
