About Dolgellau

Dolgellau is a characterful market town known for its cobbled streets, sun-dappled squares and Heritage-listed buildings. Dolgellau is also a fantastic base for exploring the picturesque Welsh countryside.

Located just outside of Dolgellau, the Mawddach Estuary is a haven for local wildlife. It features a mix of woodlands and wetlands, with the rugged Snowdonia mountains rising in the distance. Birdwatchers can spot cuckoos, siskins, grasshopper warblers and pied flycatchers.

Dolgellau has been a melting pot of Welsh folk music since the 1950s. Catch a live show at Ty Siamas, a cultural centre housed in the town's former market hall. The centre also provides workshops, music lessons and an on-site cafe.

Built in 1198, Cymer Abbey features crumbling walls and soaring arches. It's particularly beautiful in the spring when the ruins are enveloped in a sea of daffodils, while grassy lawns make it a great place for a picnic.

Get lost in the maze of streets in Dolgellau’s town centre. Its historic buildings house cosy cafes, boutique shops and gourmet restaurants.
