Documenting the nation’s cultural, social and political narrative, the National Museum is Guyana’s top cultural attraction. It’s stuffed full of artefacts, with exhibits that showcase precious stones and Amerindian crafts representing Guyana's nine tribes.

Built in 1877, the Castellani House features South America’s National Art Gallery. Inside you’ll find works from iconic Guyana-born artists like Frank Bowling, famous for his abstract expressionism.

With its greyscale facade and corrugated-iron clock tower, Stabroek Market is one of the city’s most-iconic landmarks. The bustling market dates back to the late-1700s and still houses a huge range of stalls selling everything from crispy fried plantains to handwoven fabrics.

The Gothic-inspired St George's Cathedral towers above the city and was crafted entirely from native hardwood. At 43.5 metres, it’s said to be the world's tallest wooden building. While the facade is painted white, the arches, columns and flying buttresses of the interior show off the natural wood textures.
