About Gower Peninsula

Sightsee in Swansea. Swansea is the unofficial capital of the Gower Peninsula and a pilgrimage destination for fans of Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas. Learn about his life and work at the Dylan Thomas Centre or delve into the city’s past at the Swansea Museum. Also not to miss is the striking National Waterfront Museum where artefacts from the city’s industrial past are on display.

Visit Three Cliffs Bay. Nestled on the south coast of the Gower Peninsula is Three Cliffs Bay, a spectacular natural landscape at the mouth of Pennard Pill. In addition to relaxing on its Blue Flag beach, you can follow the walking trail that leads to Pobbles Bay or climb to the impressive ruins of Pennard Castle.

Go castle hopping. The Gower Peninsula is dotted with centuries-old ruins, such as the crumbling manor house of Weobley Castle. Soak up the views across the Loughor Estuary from its rolling lawns before visiting the Grade II-listed Tudor house of Oxwich Castle. Elevated views across Swansea Bay are on offer from the 12th-century Oystermouth Castle.

Stop by the Gower Heritage Centre. Occupying a 12th-century mill is the Gower Heritage Centre, where you can learn about traditional crafts such as pottery, bread making and blacksmithing. Admire the fully operational watermill and browse the antique agricultural equipment before attending one of the craft workshops or demonstrations.
