Officially established in 2006, Southern Federal University is the largest scientific and educational centre in the south of Russia. Its origins date back to 1915 when the Imperial University of Warsaw was relocated to Rostov-on-Don, with more than 30 faculties and three educational institutes operated by the university today.

Among the university’s alumni are the President of Abkhazia, Alexander Ankvab, and the Nobel prize-winning Russian novelist, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
Southern Federal University is a 10-minute drive from the Rostov-Glavnyj railway station and can be accessed by several bus routes that stop along the edge of the campus. Platov International Airport is 40 minutes away and has flights to destinations across Europe and Central Asia.
