Where to stay in Braslaw

About Braslaw

Originally established as a castle town near Belarus’ border with Lithuania, Braslaw is a popular summer resort. It has spent time under Russian, French and Polish rule, as well as being occupied by Nazi Germany during World War II.

In the heart of town is the Braslaŭ Museum of Traditional Culture, which features themed exhibitions related to the region’s ethnography. Admire the locally made handicrafts or attend one of the regular cultural events before picking up a unique Belarusian souvenir from the on-site store.

Braslaw is an ideal base for exploring Braslaw Lakes National Park, a protected area of around 30 lakes surrounded by dense pine forest. Follow one of the walking trails that hug the sandy lake shores or explore the various bogs that provide habitat for black storks, cranes and willow grouse. Badger, lynx and brown bears are also occasionally sighted within the park.

Getting there

Braslaw is 3.5 hours’ drive from Minsk and Minsk National Airport or just 2.5 hours from Vilnius and Vilnius International Airport. Buses connect Braslaw to towns and villages across the region while having your own car gives you greater freedom to explore Braslaw Lakes National Park.
