My first concern was about food. Since our flight was arriving at 6:45pm, and the hotel is an hour and a half away, I was convinced we were going to miss dinner, since the buffet closes at 10pm, and there are no other food options at the hotel until breakfast at 7am. I read horror stories online about travel weary guests having to take a taxi into town for a meal. This did not happen! Although the airport was a disaster (a delayed Air Transat flight landed at the same time as our Sunwing flight and there were only a handful of Customs Agents to deal with the huge line up of hundreds) we got our luggage and onto the shuttle in remarkable time! It was a small bus with 8 of us all going to the same resort. Funny, they loaded our luggage through the back window of the bus. Anyway, we arrived at the resort just shy of 9pm, so no worries about having a meal. For those who did not want to go to the buffet, boxed snacks were available at check in. If you are travelling at an off time though, I would recommend you email the hotel ahead of time for any needs. On the subject of food, keep in mind this is a very small resort. I was expecting a small buffet. That's what I got. However I enjoyed the quality. In Costa Rica, it's not a meal unless there's rice and beans, so I'm told. So those are the first offerings on the buffet, followed by beef, chicken, pork, fish and pasta at dinner and lunch. For breakfast, after the rice and beans you will find eggs, bacon, pancakes, French toast and plantains. Of course there's an omelette/made to order eggs station. These eggs taste amazing. Must be what the chickens are fed This same station has interesting offerings at lunch and dinner as well, so be sure to check. I was impressed by the amount of fresh salads and fruits available on the buffet. My favorite dessert was the Costa Rican version of ¨me caramel, which has a coconut base. Amazing.
