About Swan Valley

Western Australia’s oldest wine region, the Swan Valley boasts a warm and dry climate perfect for growing grapes. A thriving gastronomy scene has also flourished, with gourmet cafes and restaurants drawing on local produce.

Wineries dot both sides of the Swan River, including large-scale operations and boutique, family-run businesses. Visit the cellar doors to experience the viticultural innovation taking place in the Swan Valley, with many wines only available on site.

Follow the award-winning Food and Wine Trail, a 32-kilometre scenic drive that takes you to some of the Swan Valley’s most renowned establishments. You can visit cheese makers and olive groves, coffee roasters and chocolate factories, as well as craft breweries and distilleries.

The Swan Valley is known for its roadside stalls, with seasonal fruits, such as melons, strawberries and grapes for sale. You can also find unique local crafts and artworks in the many galleries that dot the region, such as Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery and the Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park.

Getting there

The Swan Valley is 10 minutes’ drive from Perth Airport and around 25 minutes from Perth. Daily wine tours depart from Perth or you can hire a car to explore the area at your leisure.
