From walking through the front door to getting into the room, you realise that this hotel is a cut above the rest. It is wonderfully quirky, for example, there is a whole wall of suitcases and the lift has tiles around it. The staff are so friendly and helpful and make a great effort to speak English and forgave our bad Spanish. The location is perfect. It is just outside the more commercial area of Old Town Madrid but close enough to walk, although there is a Metro station just around the corner. We had a Junior Suite (it is actually the one pictured on TripAdvisor and it is accurate) as it was my husband's birthday and we were facing the inner courtyard which meant the room was very quiet (we are country folk and traffic noise wakes us up). It is not a hotel which has views across the city so we were happy with our situation. The room was wonderfully designed with a large lit bookcase on one wall and a sofa and table opposite the bed. There's a television and desk with a coffee/tea machine. The bathroom was just a shower and fairly small but large enough to not be falling over the toilet when getting out of the shower. The bed was a lovely large super king and there is a turn down service at night and we were left some lovely homemade chocolates with a note for my wife's birthday. We thought this hotel was excellent value for money for the size and comfort of the room and other facilities. This is only personal preference and it might not bother other people but I hate Spanish pillows. Sorry They are too thin and fat, not really even worth mentioning probably. The bed was a bit soft but again a personal preference and not a deal breaker.
