Home to limestone islands that feature idyllic freshwater lagoons and white sandy beaches, Bacuit Bay is the focal point for El Nido’s island-hopping adventures. It’s a magical place to go on land and water adventures, with colourful coral reefs and hidden caves to discover.
Things to do in Bacuit Bay
Jump into a kayak to visit Miniloc Island’s Big Lagoon, flanked by towering limestone walls, then navigate through the small entrance that leads to the sublime Small Lagoon. Water enthusiasts can also go swimming in the picture-perfect turquoise waters of Ubugon Cove on the famous island of Cadlao.
Snorkelers will find plenty of inspiration in the coral gardens that sprawl off Binangculan Bay on Tapuitan Island, together with the marine species-rich waters off Shimizu Island. If you’re looking for an afternoon of relaxation, be sure to visit the stunning white beaches of Entalula or Pangulasian Islands.
A short hike to the top of Pangulasian Island offers 360-degree panoramas across the archipelago and an iconic photo opportunity. There are also sweeping views from the top of Snake Island, named for its elongated sandbar that appears at low tide.
Perhaps the most spectacular of Bacuit Bay’s beaches is Secret Beach. While it’s far from a secret, Secret Beach is hidden behind a spectacular limestone islet and maintains its far-flung ambience.
Getting around Bacuit Bay
Bacuit Bay is easily accessed from El Nido Airport, and around a four-hour drive from the capital of Palawan, Puerto Princesa. The most popular way to explore the archipelago is on one of the island-hopping boat trips that are sold throughout El Nido, while you can also rent kayaks to explore at your leisure.
