About Dibrugarh

Surrounded by emerald tea estates, Dibrugarh overlooks the Brahmaputra River in eastern Assam. It’s home to an auspicious temple and innovative culture park and is near the Jokai Botanical Garden and Dibru-Saikhowa National Park.

Things to do in Dibrugarh

One of the most important places of worship in Dibrugarh is the Radha Krishna Mandir, a beautiful Hindu temple constructed from marble. Its bright-white gopuram is surrounded by leafy gardens and hedge-lined pathways perfect for strolling.

Wander through the Hitendranath Barua Science and Culture Park, which is dotted with life-size sculptures of an elephant and combative bulls. Admire the murals depicting Northeast Indian ethnic dances and the iron figurines representing stories from Assamese folktales, then walk through the traditional village built from clay.

A short drive from Dibrugarh takes you to the 1.2-hectare Jokai Botanical Garden. In addition to its tropical rainforest, the garden is home to a vast array of bird species, an orchid house and medicinal plants.

Make a day trip to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park, which is set on a riverine island. Designated as a Biosphere Reserve, it’s home to semi-evergreen forests and swamps home to Bengal tigers, macaques, Asiatic water buffalo and a variety of bird species.

Getting around Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh Airport is 30 minutes’ drive from the city centre and there are train connections across India from the Dibrugarh railway station. Buses and auto rickshaws travel throughout Dibrugarh.
