About Jena

Built in 1377, Rathaus is one of the oldest and best-preserved town halls in Germany. As you approach the building, you’ll notice the beautiful astronomical clock on the main tower. In comparison, JenTower towers 128 metres over the city and features a sleek glass façade. Wander around the shopping mall on the ground floor and ride the elevator to the twin observation decks for sweeping views over the city.

Botanischer Garten was laid out in the 1700s and showcases thousands of plants from around the world. Walk through the arboretum filled with coniferous trees and marvel at enormous lily pads and lush tropical plants in the steamy greenhouses. Don’t miss the ginkgo tree planted by beloved German poet, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

The 400-kilometre-long Saale Cycle Path meanders through the countryside from Bavaria to Saxony-Anhalt and passes through Jena. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the riverbank or rent a bike and cover longer distances.
