Where to stay in Morzine

About Morzine

Part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, Morzine is a traditional French market town where outdoor enthusiasts flock to experience French Alpine skiing, hike forested mountain trails and soak up a lively apres-ski scene. This all-seasons adventure destination also has an ice-skating rink in town, along with an aquatic centre.

Things to do

During winter, most visitors to Morzine head straight to the ski slopes of Portes du Soleil, which has 650 kilometres of skiable terrain and an elevation of 2,466 metres. This expansive ski sports area encompasses thirteen resorts across fourteen valleys, with numerous trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, as well as 10 terrain parks.

If you’re visiting in summer, you’ll want to pack some hiking boots so you can tackle the beautiful mountain trails that reveal native trees and wildlife. Morzine has hosted Tour de France stages over the years and is a popular mountain cycling destination. If you need to cool off, head to Espace Aquatique Morzine to enjoy its multiple swimming pools and water slides.

Looking for some adventure? Take on the challenging high-ropes courses at Indiana’Ventures or test your high-flying skills on the halfpipe at Avoriaz Snowpark. Nature lovers can visit Lac de Montriond, a 32-hectare lake with crystalline water and picturesque mountain views.

Spend some time indulging in the French restaurants and cocktail bars around Morzine, such as Restaurant La Chaudanne and Restaurant La Chamade. Enjoy fine wines at the Le Coup de Coeur wine bar or pick up some sweet baked goods from La Bonbonnière.

Getting around

Morzine is about 75 kilometres from Geneva Cointrin International Airport, where you can use a combination of trains and buses to reach the market town. You can walk around town and use ski lifts to access the slopes, but a private car is best for exploring the sights off the mountains.
