The southernmost city in the Philippine’s National Capital Region, Muntinlupa hugs the western shores of Laguna de Bay. It has been nicknamed the “Emerald City of the Philippines”, and is home to some of the country’s wealthiest citizens in the luxurious Ayala Alabang Village residential community.
Things to do in Muntinlupa
Don’t miss a visit to Yexel’s Toy Museum, which boasts an outstanding collection of action figures, life-size toy statues and the largest Optimus Prime “Transformers” bust in Asia. There’s a “Star Wars” inspired hallway, figures from the “Avengers” and “Superman”, as well as an “Iron Man” Laboratory with life-size armour and suits from the film.
Need some retail therapy? Take a day to go shopping with Manila’s rich and famous at Festival Alabang, one of the largest malls in the Philippines. It features a state-of-the-art cinema complex and the X-Site Amusement Center, together with a Pixie Forest play area and mini driving course for young children.
Golfers can enjoy the facilities at the Alabang Country Club, with its par-72 course designed by leading golf architects, Nicklaus Design. Man-made lakes and a natural creek weave around its 18 holes, while you can also hone your skills on the putting greens.
Muntinlupa overlooks the waters of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the Philippines. Take a boat cruise to explore the traditional barangays of Talim Island and learn about the crocodile-deity myths associated with Bay Island.
Getting around Muntinlupa
Alabang Station connects Muntinlupa with destinations across the National Capital Region, while frequent buses from Starmall Alabang travel as far north as Quezon City. Jeepneys access all corners of Muntinlupa, while tricycles and pedicabs are a convenient means of travelling through the narrow streets of the barangays.
