About Novalja

Situated in the north of Pag Island, Novalja is a lively resort town nicknamed the “Croatian Ibiza” due to its party scene. It was originally settled by the Illyrians and was later occupied by the Romans, with a 1st-century AD aqueduct still visible today. Novalja boasts several beautiful beaches that appeal to everyone from young revellers to families.

Things to do in Novalja

Spend your days relaxing on the family-friendly sands of Planjka Trinćel where you can rent sun loungers and thatched beach umbrellas. In addition to a small park with swings and a slide, there’s a beachfront restaurant and several snack stands where you can grab food and drinks throughout the day.

For more of a party scene, head to pebbly Zrće Beach, which is backed by bars and discotheques that stay open until the early hours of the morning. During the summer months, acclaimed DJs perform on Zrće’s open-air stage or at one of its three nightclubs. By day, it’s a popular setting for jet skiing and bungee jumping.

One of the most important archaeological landmarks on Pag Island is Novalja’s aqueduct, which was built by the Romans in the 1st century AD. It was created to supply water to the island’s ancient settlements and was used again briefly following its rediscovery in the 19th century. Around 150 metres of the aqueduct is now accessible to visitors, with a small museum detailing its history.
