Things to do in Noyemberyan
Noyemberyan is home to three Cyclopean fortresses that recall the town’s ancient past. The oldest dates to the 2nd millennium BC and features soaring stone walls and sweeping views over the countryside.
Perched on a forested Plateau, Mshkavank Monastery dates to the 13th century and welcomes visitors with an imposing façade built with enormous stone blocks. Step inside to admire the cavernous church. Above the altar is a stylised cross decorated with a carving of a bull’s head.
Noyemberyan features a handful of cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy traditional Armenian food. Save your appetite for charcoal-grilled “khorovat” skewers, spiced “kyufta” minced meat and “dolmas” wrapped in vine leaves.
