About Trujillo, Extremadura

Clustered with medieval and Renaissance buildings, Trujillo is a historic town in the Spanish community of Extremadura. It was originally established as a fortification atop a granite knoll and became an important town following the region’s 8th-century Islamic conquest. Overlooking Trujillo is the hilltop Castillo, which was constructed by the Moors between the 9th and 12th centuries. It is notable for its horseshoe-shaped arch and eight towers, from where you can enjoy magnificent views across the town.
