About Wenatchee

Near the snow-capped Cascade Mountains, Wenatchee blends seamlessly into endless fields of wheat, cherries and apples in the agricultural hotspot of Washington State. It’s also a burgeoning wine and art destination, as well as a favourite spot for hiking in national forests, loop trails and riverfront parks.

Things to do in Wenatchee

In the “Apple Capital of the World”, you’ll find plenty of roadside stands and permanent farmers markets selling Galas, Fujis, Honeycrisps and Granny Smiths straight from the fields. In late summer and early autumn, you can visit u-pick apple orchards and take orchard tours. Wenatchee is also a good place to sample Aplets & Coplets, a nostalgic regional candy made from apples, apricots and walnuts.

Wenatchee’s outdoor recreation spots stay busy throughout the year, especially Riverfront Park on the banks of the Columbia River. Join joggers, cyclists and rollerbladers on the trails and along the beach. The Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail passes through Walla Walla Point Park and Wenatchee National Forest is a short drive from town.

Wenatchee’s “Brewer’s Row” is home to local breweries, such as Badger Mountain and Wenatchee Valley. You’ll also find plenty of “cideries” and cider tasting rooms selling concoctions made from heirloom apple varieties. Vineyards, cellars and wine-tasting rooms dot the countryside, including Brender Canyon Vineyards and Jones of Washington.

Hispanic cuisine thrives in the Wenatchee Valley, and you can try authentic Mexican specialties at Alma’s Mexican Kitchen El Abuela. For casual French-inspired dining, snag a table at Pybus Bistro, or go for a throwback 1950s experience at the 59er Diner.
