Where to stay in Brandon

About Brandon

Set on the Assiniboine River, Brandon is an attractive city anchored by a historic downtown core. It offers a handful of museums and one of Manitoba's top contemporary art galleries. Wildlife-rich nature reserves and riverside parks are found nearby.

Things to do

The Riverbank Discovery Centre is set in a pristine nature reserve filled with maple, ash and elm trees. The reserve is laced with interpretive walking trails where you can spot local wildlife, such as deer, beavers and foxes. Inside the centre you'll find displays on the local ecosystem, as well as a colourful gift store.

Just east of the city, the Royal Canadian Artillery Museum walks you through 12,000 years of military history in Manitoba. It's housed on an active military base and showcases a huge collection of weaponry, including 18th-century pistols, World War II guns and heavy-duty tankers.

Discover local talent at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, a public exhibition space showcasing contemporary art. The gallery also hosts a dynamic line-up of events, including photography competitions, art classes, cocktail nights and children's programmes.

Fringed by grassy lawns and lush forests, Dinsdale Park offers a taste of Brandon's laid-back riverside lifestyle. It's set on the banks of the Assiniboine River and is a great place to enjoy a shady picnic or barbecue. Kids will love exploring the adventure playground and climbing the train engine monument.

Getting around

Downtown Brandon is easy to explore on foot, especially around the historic district. The city is also serviced by local buses and taxis. Two kilometres out of town, Brandon Municipal Airport offers domestic flights. Long-distance buses depart downtown from the Brandon bus terminal.
