Holding a Blue Flag beach distinction, the horseshoe-shaped sandy strip at Coral Bay frames shallow emerald waters. A water sports centre offers banana boats, parasailing, pedalos and diving adventures to the wreck of Zenobia. Pubs and beach shops line the waterfront, while shuttle buses provide access to the secluded Potima Bay.

Dining in Coral Bay includes traditional tavernas along the seafront serving small-plate “meze” combinations of local specialties, such as souvla, hummus, halloumi and tzatziki. Don’t miss tasting loukaniko sausage made with fennel seeds and citrus zest. For a genuine Cypriot evening, enjoy Greek-style dancing and music at Coral King, along with plates of lamb kleftiko or grilled swordfish.

Nightlife includes trendy cocktail bars along Coral Bay Avenue, where you can find the national drink, Brandy Sours. You’ll also discover Cyprus artists and craftspeople selling woodworks, jewellery and pottery. For some special Cyprus vino, pick up a bottle of Carignan Noir or Xynisteri.

Drive a few minutes’ north of Coral Bay to hike the Avakas Gorge, home to narrow limestone cliffs and juniper forests. About 15 minutes from Coral Bay lies Paphos Town, which features the Paphos Castle and centuries-old mosaics at Kato Paphos Archaeological Park.

Getting around

Rental cars are available in Coral Bay or at Paphos Airport, about 15 minutes away. Buses, motorbikes and taxis provide transportation in town and to surrounding villages.
