About Llanberis

Llanberis is a picturesque village set in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. A launchpad for outdoor adventures, the village is set on the banks of a glacier-carved lake. Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales, towers over Llanberis and adds to the dramatic setting.

The Llanberis Lake Railway stretches for four kilometres along the banks of the lake. In addition to beautiful views over the water and surrounding mountains, you’ll pass by historic landmarks like 13th-century Dolbadarn Castle. Narrow-gauge Snowdon Mountain Railway chugs up the slopes of Snowdon and unlocks sweeping views over the park.

A series of Llanberis Heritage Trails wind through the village and take you past landmark buildings like the 19th-century Slate Works and medieval St Padarn's Church. Many of the historic townhouses have been reimagined as cosy cafes and colourful craft shops. Others house taverns and pubs where you can try traditional Welsh dishes like Glamorgan vegetarian sausages made with cheese, leek and breadcrumbs.
