Just north of the Hamilton CBD, Rototuna is a great base for exploring New Zealand’s North Island. Featuring contemporary art, science exhibits and Maori artefacts, the Waikato Museum is one of the top cultural attractions on the North Island. Highlights include an impressive Maori war canoe carved more than 200 years ago. Visit after dark to join the museum’s famous bat tour of Hammond Park.
