About Kato Pyrgos

Nestled at the base of the Troödos Mountains, Kato Pyrgos is the only Greek Cypriot village on Morphou Bay. In addition to its pebbly beach watched over by a ruined Venetian tower, it features an atmospheric village square centred around an ancient oak tree.

In the heart of Kato Pyrgos is the stone-built Agia Irene Church and the Church of Saint Konstantinos and Eleni, whose bells regularly ring out across the village. Between Kato Pyrgos and Pano Pyrgos is one of the oldest chapels in Cyprus, the Chapel of Panagia Galoktisti, which has been lovingly restored by the Department of Antiquities.

Soak up the views across Morphou Bay from Kato Pyrgos Beach or climb the stairway that leads to its ruined medieval tower. On hot, summer days, you can relax beneath the shady trees of Kato Pyrgos Park or feast on traditional Cypriot cuisine at Grape by the Sea and the Periklis Fish Tavern.
