About Lanai

Lanai is the smallest inhabited island in Hawaii, where you can easily escape the rest of the world while enjoying luxurious resorts, a championship-level golf course and rugged four-wheel driving adventures. Along with its locally-run restaurants and cultural centre, Lanai offers secluded beaches that are perfect for snorkelling and swimming.

Things to do

Begin your Lanai holiday in the central part of the island at Lanai City, where you’ll find a range of contemporary dining and entertainment. The city’s restaurants surround a central park, including Blue Ginger Café, which serves American and Pan-Asian cuisine. Check out Pele's Other Garden Deli at night for Italian fare and cold beer or purchase Hawaiian snacks at Richard's Market.

The Lanai Culture & Heritage Center is positioned in Lanai City and is a great spot for discovering local culture through live concerts, special events and historical artefacts. Just around the corner is Lanai Theatre, where you can enjoy Hollywood blockbusters in a modern cinema.

Do you love nature? Get out and explore Lanai’s collection of pristine beaches, such as Hulopoe Beach, which features tidal pools for snorkelling, barbecue facilities and waterfront dining at Four Seasons Resort Lanai. It’s a short stroll from Puu Pehe, which is also called “Sweetheart Rock” and offers stunning Pacific Ocean vistas and the perfect couples’ photo op.

If you prefer to explore the centre of Lanai, organise a guided four-wheel drive or UTV tour, which takes you through lush valleys and ironwood forests, as well as fascinating heritage sites. Hikers should hike the Munro Trail to reach Lanai’s highest peak, Lanaihale, while also enjoying views of all six Hawaiian islands at once.

Getting around

Lanai is easily reached by flying into Lanai Airport from Honolulu or Molokai. You can also catch the Maui-Lanai Ferry, which drops you off at Manele Harbour. The best way to get around Lanai is by renting a vehicle in Lanai City.
