Where to stay in Norddeich (Niedersachsen)

About Norddeich (Niedersachsen)

Located on the picturesque coast of East Frisia, Norddeich is a North Sea spa village and one of the largest passenger ports in Germany. It attracts visitors in the summer months due to its spacious beach and family-friendly attractions, while it’s also home to a rehabilitation centre for harbour and grey seals.

You can swim and sunbathe on the wide sands of the Strand Norddeich or climb the adjacent Blue Bridge observation tower for sweeping views across the coastline. In addition to a children’s playground, also nearby is the Erlebnispark Norddeich where you’ll find a giant hedge maze and a miniature golf course.

Norddeich is home to a dedicated Seal Station, which rehabilitates injured and orphaned seals to be returned to the Wadden Sea. You can learn about the lifestyle and behaviour of the resident seals and watch them relax beside the natural pool or get an underwater glimpse of them playfully swimming below.

Getting there

Norddeich is a 1.5-hour drive from Oldenburg and two hours from Bremen Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe. Regular trains connect to the Norddeich and Norddeich Mole railway stations while the village is compact enough to explore on foot.
