About Lorne

Lorne is a nature lover’s paradise, where azure waters serve as the backdrop for dense eucalyptus forests and sweeping cliffs. This area is famous for the spectacular views provided along the Great Ocean Road as well as its Mediterranean atmosphere.

Things to do

For a day of relaxation, visit Lorne Beach, popular for its sunbathing and surfing opportunities. Cool off in the crystal-clear waters of Loutit Bay, explore the nearby rock pools or take your board out to surf the waves.

For spectacular views, take a scenic drive down the Great Ocean Road. Stop for a photo opportunity at the Great Ocean Road Memorial Archway, learn about the diggers that worked on the road and enjoy whale watching between May and September.

If you love nature, head to Great Otway National Park to discover gorgeous Erskine Falls, one of 10 waterfalls located near town. From the Visitor Area, take a short stroll down to the viewing platform or a steep hike to the base of the falls for picturesque views of the water gushing down into a fern gully.

For postcard-worthy landscapes, journey to Teddy’s Lookout, located on the outskirts of Lorne. Stroll one minute from the car park down to the viewing platform and photograph the Great Ocean Road winding around the coastline, enjoy a close-up of the native fauna and look for koalas in the trees.
